We will be using this website along with face-to-face classroom instruction to become better mathematicians! This website will provide you with resources that will deepen your learning. This is a hybrid course, so you will be working in it at school and at home.

Communication Policy
Below are some communication guidelines that will help you to be successful in our math course:

Feedback
Math Chat
- Math chat is used for math discussions ONLY. You may post questions you have about the lesson or you may discuss what you learned from a lesson with your peers.
- In some lesson I'll have you answer a question using Math Chat. Make sure you respond to the correct blog post.
- No negativity allowed on math chat. Keep posts positive :)
- Revise - Make sure to reread your post before submitting it.

- Check for understanding - after completing a Zearn video, if you answered "no" to the "Can I" statements, come see Mrs. Garland at the back table.
- If you need assistance with a problem set or exit ticket, complete three before asking me

- You can contact me through the "Contact" tab on our course. Use this for personal questions or for scheduling extra help time.

Feedback
- I will respond to a Contact message or a direct email within 24 hours.
- I will be monitoring Math Chat on a daily basis to answer any questions and I'll be checking for appropriate math related conversations.
Technology:
- To access this course in class, you will be using your school issued iPad.
- If you have wifi at home, you can also access this course on your school iPad, a personal tablet, or a home computer.
- If you do not have wifi at home and would like more time working in this course, you can make an appointment with me to come to school early or stay late. You can also make an appointment to use a computer in the media center before or after school.
Grading Policy:
- You will be given multiple opportunities to demonstrate your knowledge during lessons.
- Problem Sets are not given a numerical grade. They are meant as practice and will be used as a tool to see if you are understanding the math concepts in the lessons.
- You are given two opportunities to master an Exit Ticket. If you demonstrate mastery the first time you take it, you will receive 2 points. If you make a mistake on the Exit Ticket, you will receive small group extra instruction and then will have the opportunity retake the Exit Ticket. If you demonstrate master the second time you take it, you will receive 1 point. If you get the Exit ticket wrong the second time, you will receive 0 points. Don't worry, reteaching will happen on Fridays. You can earn a point back by showing mastery through our activities.
- Performance Tasks have a rubric to follow and they will be included under the Performance Task section.
